The Cedars of Chapel Hill Club, a 400 resident/member premier retirement community has an opening for a Full Time Line Cook. The Line Cook is responsible for the preparation of all food served at a la carte services. The Line Cook plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved. The Line Cook is responsible for determining the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and see that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production. The Line Cook must be able to take direction from Lead Cook and Sous Chef as necessary.

Qualifications include:

  • The Line Cook should have cooking experience in roasting, braising; sauté and grill a must, knowledge of soups, sauces are also required.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance is a necessary qualification for The Line Cook position. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
  • The Line Cook should have three to five years of experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate Real Estate Closings by working with attorneys and both buyers and sellers.

  • Ability to communicate and work with older adults in a pleasant customer service environment.

The Health Center Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center Members in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus. Prepare therapeutic food items as required. Serve meals in the health center in compliance with Member preferences and diet orders. Serve room delivery trays. Monitor acceptance of meals and offer substitute food items for those not well consumed. Assist with tray set-up for Members during all meals. Prepare both health center dining rooms for service, and break down after meals for 3 meals a day. Wash all dishes and pots after each meal and as necessary throughout the shift.
